Most students bring their own school-owned or personal instrument (single or double horn). If you are considering renting or buying an instrument, contact Guy before your lesson for advice on reliable models and setups.
Do I need to buy a horn, or can I rent one?
Most school-age students start on an instrument provided by their school band program. If you or your child need to rent or purchase a horn for home practice or private study, contact Guy before buying; he can guide you toward reliable local music stores and reputable instrument models (single or double horns) that will set you up for success.
What music or method books do I need to buy?
You do not need to buy anything before your first lesson. During our initial session, Guy will evaluate your current level and recommend specific studies, warm-up routines, or solo repertoire tailored to your goals. You are also welcome to bring any current school band music or audition pieces you are working on.
Do you offer online lessons as well as in-person in Ottawa?
Yes! While in-person studio lessons in Ottawa are recommended for hand position and acoustic feedback, high-quality online lessons via Zoom/Skype are available for students who prefer remote coaching.
What age groups and skill levels do you teach?
Instruction is tailored for all ages—from middle and high school band students preparing for auditions, to university performance majors, adult enthusiasts, and seniors (65+).
